When we decide to apply for the MBA, we all want to get into the best possible school. But the finest schools also have the strictest acceptance programs. The most common way MBA collages test their applicants is with The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT).
This test is used to evaluate the student's mathematical and English language abilities. The test is divided into three sections: The Analytical Writing Assessment, the Quantitative section and the Verbal Ability section. The Analytical Writing Assessment consists of the applicants writing two essays and having 30 minutes to write each one. The first is an analysis of an argument and the second is an analysis of an issue. These essays are marked between 0-6, 6 being the highest. The mean score is currently 4.4.
The next part of the GMAT is the Quantitative section. This consists of 37 multiple choice questions based on problem solving and data sufficiency. The final part of the test is the Verbal Ability section. This requires the applicant to display outstanding grammatical ability and well as reading comprehension and critical reasoning.
Your total score upon completion can be anywhere between 200 and 800. Most MBA collages do not publish their minimum acceptable score, but averages of their students have been published and this can be used as a guide. The top MBA collages require their students to receive a score somewhere in the upper 600s or the low 700s. So you should rehearse and practice for the GMAT.
